General Overview

URSearch: This giant database is perfect for searching broad topics. It covers all types of sources (books, journal articles, periodical articles, multimedia, etc) across all EBSCO databases, OhioLINK, and our own catalog.

Library Catalog: Use this to find books and media specific to our library. Keyword phrases of 1-3 words work best.

Finding Articles

PsycINFO indexes all aspects of psychological literature. There is a second database for historical publications.
Academic Search Complete is a catch all database that searches across literature, which is helpful for searches on culture.

These databases will overlap with art therapy:
CINAHL Plus with Full Text covers art therapy articles published in the nursing literature.
ERIC will identify articles in the education literature. It is particularly helpful if your topic involves art education.
MEDLINE with full text (EBSCO) indexes the medical literature. Use it for art therapy articles appearing in the medical literature as well as for medical information.
Social Work Abstracts is particularly useful for its coverage of counseling literature.
AltHealthWatch covers complimentary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness.

Sometimes the PDF Full Text option isn't available for all articles in a database. Sometimes you'll see a yellow Find It! button instead. Click on it, and it will take you to the full text in another database.

If the Article Isn't Online

Sometimes articles just aren't online. If we have the article in print and you are not on campus, you can request that a copy be e-mailed to you. We can also obtain articles from other libraries. To request these articles, go to our Article Request site.

The library keeps the art therapy thesis collection, which can provide perfect avenues for your research through the works cited in each bibliography.
To search the thesis collection, go to the catalog, do a basic search, then click the Modify Search button and set the Material Type to thesis.
