Searching for Journal Articles

Recommended Databases for Journal Articles:

Database Search Tips:
  • Search one or two keywords for best search results.
  • Think about RELEVANCE
    • Research study articles in particular are very specific, but the findings can be applied in many ways.
    • Try adding AND psych* to keyword searches.
    • How to read a research study article
  • Boolean Searching: Combine search terms and concepts using AND/OR
    • Use OR to broaden your search to include synonyms and related terms (anxiety OR fear OR worry)
    • Use AND to narrow your search by combining concepts
    • Truncation: Use an asterisk * to find word variants (ex: psych* = psychology, psychological, psychiatric, psychotic, etc.)
  • How to find the FULL-TEXT:
    • Click on the PDF Full Text link or the Find It! button to look for the full-text in another database.
    • No PDF or Find It! link? Try searching for the journal title in Journal Finder or see if the article is freely available online.
    • If you still can't find the full-text, you can submit an Article Request form. Please note it may take several days to process your article request!

Do you already know the title of the Journal you need? Use Journal Finder to find out if we have access. To search by topic for articles, use the databases.
